Dear Democracy Benchers,
I'm pleased to announce - after an intense round of voting by you, the
people, that the winner of the Democracy Bench competition is John
Kennedy with 'The Thing' (http://tinyurl.com/qp7as8)
It was a close-run competition - with Linda Hesh's 'For and Against'
benches (http://tinyurl.com/qtsgw5) coming in second by only a few
votes, followed by 'A bench to encourage democratic public debate' by
Stuart Haden (http://tinyurl.com/oshdmx)
In fact, so many of the benches were really amazing and inventive, that
we are thinking of looking at ways to get a whole democracy park kitted
out with all of them... which might take a while!
We are currently meeting with Southwark Council to negotiate the siting
of the bench and any supplementary funding that we need to raise, and
health & safety issues that may come up.
We will keep you posted, but for now - thanks for the support, and we
hope to bring you the bench soon!
Cheers,
Saul,
