hello dlpdevs,
I've finally gotten round to doing lots of software updates and changes.
I won't really list them all, but you can go to
http://dlp.theps.net/
and see for yourselves.
There are now more fields for books - hopefully enough to constitute valuable
information on a non-isbn book. Publisher, publication date, and a way of
indicating if the book is reference-only, or if it's available for swapping or
taking away. There's also a way of indicating if there's more than one copy of
a book in your library.
You can also export an Excel (CSV) spreadsheet of your catalogue so you can
print it out in hard copy if you want to.
I'm working on an RDF export next - and a map (draft version of the map is on
http://dlp.theps.net/maps/ - which is actually dynamically generated, but needs
lots more work).
I've also finally got round to converting and uploading the 1in12 library file
- so you've got all the stuff that was in your Excel catalogue in the dlp
system now - with all the detail (accession numbering, condition, collection
name etc...)
I've also uploaded the video collection of Newcastle's radical side cinema who
have joined the project and have a great film collection.
I have no idea how to start with the RDF stuff now... but I'll let you know
when I've got some good ideas for it. I guess I just need to find someone else
exporting data about books in RDF and copy it.
I'm also about to start working on the keywords feature - which I think will
work something like the 'interests' feature works with for the 'lists' function
at the moment. I can see the lists need some work too - so I'll be trying that
one.
Comments and further suggestions welcome!
Cheers,
Saul.
