Hi All,
Thought I should share this as it undoubtedly has issues for
future-proofing the DLP software....
Best

The ISBN standard is changing to 13 digits from 1st January 2007. The ISBN will become identical to the EAN (the barcode on the back of the book). Publishers and other players are starting to introduce the new format well ahead of the deadline date. BIC has guidelines for the transition to the new format in EDI messages. 13-digit ISBNs will start to appear in MARC records from the British Library and the Library of Congress in a few months' time - October 2004.
The presentations from a conference at the British Library on 15th June are accessible on the BIC web site at
http://www.bic.org.uk/13-digitisbn.html
