Hi,

hmmm... the mapbureau idea is an intriguing one... how do you envisage
it working? are you thinking micro level pictures of bookshelves? how
easy will it be to add to or amend the collection?!

In terms of indexing to item level: I do feel the utility will diminish
greatly if we don't have item information on the shared system. Much
of the more "ephemeral" stuff will probably need quite detailed RDF
description.

Is the idea that the DLP sits alongside the RDF approach - or does (as
seems more logical) the RDF sit within the DLP - is there the scope to
do this? what do we (as nodes) need to do to help this to happen?

SUBJECT INDEXING - We still have our original keyword list from which
we were going to theme our books... would there be any merit in setting
this up as a wiki which we could share for reference and use within the
RDF tags? Let me know if you want me to share it...

Yes, the RDF stuff Jo mentioned interested me... although I have to
confess it also went over my head ;-) Is it envisaged that the RDF
will be to individual item level? Currently day-job colleagues of mine
are involved in special collections "collections level descriptions"
(examples can be seen at the archives hub) I believe they are using
dublin core as a basis with other metadata elements added
(presumably this is where FOAF & RDF come in)... I will ask more and
find out...

SUMAC MEETING: I'll try and find dates in APRIL we could go for...
alternatively - we have half made plans for a social on 9th April...
The other other alternative is that we try and find some time around
mayday if our bradford plans sound appealing!

I've stuck the DLP list on my list of folks to let know when our mayday
plans are more tangiable - so you will hear more... (yes, we're aware
it's not far off now - ;-) )
