The next FutureStudio event explores the field of Virtual Studios

Taking place on Thursday 24 July 7pm at SPACE

Stephen Beddoe
Matthew Fuller
Colm Lally
plan b
Simon Worthington

The round-up event for this series of //Future Studio// sees an
exploration of the current influence online activity is having on
accessing artists work and practice. One of the original functions the
artist's studio once served. The growth of online galleries, forums and
markets has radically altered how information relating to artists is
disseminated. What effects this has had on artistic practices and
initiatives and how have they influenced the relative importance and
necessity of having a studio? As modern technology increases access to
artists studios and the activity occurring within it what future
technologies are around the corner to change artists' practices and
working needs further?

Speakers include: Chair: Stephen Beddoe (Director Artquest), Matthew
Fuller (David Gee Reader in Digital Media at Goldsmiths University),
Colm Lally (founder and director of E:vent project space), plan b
(artist collaborative), Simon Worthington (founder and co-director of
Mute Organisation).

Designed as a programme of discussions the //Future Studio// series aims
to engage the real issues affecting artists and how they produce,
operate and function inside and alongside their studio. In highlighting
the needs of artists, discussing the histories associated with studio
provision, the successes and the failures, //Future Studio// seeks to
look forward to the future of studio provision.
