Lighthouse welcomes back London based Tina Gonsalves during August for
a two-week residency, where she will be developing stage 8 of the
Chameleon Project – an interactive art installation that responds to
people’s emotions.

During her first residency in March 2009, Gonsalves worked with
members of the public to test and improve the intelligence of
Chameleon’s face reading technology. In August, she will be working
with Experientiae Electricae (an artist group from Paris) and Solent
University's Rapid Prototyping Group to develop a more sculptural
implementation of screens.

The Chameleon Project is a collaboration between Tina Gonsalves,
neuroscientists Chris Frith, Bruno Averbeck and Hugo Critchley,
affective computer scientists Ros Picard, Rana El Kaliouby from the
MIT Media Lab and Nadia Berthouze from UCL's Interaction Center and
media arts curator Helen Sloan SCAN. Chameleon further establishes
Tina Gonsalves’ links with key research centres internationally
including Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the
Institute of Neurology (IoN).

Chameleon is funded through a large arts award Wellcome Trust, Arts
Council England, Australian Network for Arts and Technology,
Australia Council for the Arts, Lighthouse, and is supported by UCL,
Brighton and Sussex Medical School, SCAN, MIT Media Lab and The Banff
New Media Institute, Canada.
