Do you know British Sign Language?

Volunteers needed for artist film project!

For the project Limitations Permitted, we are looking for volunteers who are
fluent in BSL to be filmed signing specific local UK bye-laws that regulate
public space.

What regulations apply in your neighbourhood? Some might be outdated (no
sheep grazing in the park), some bizarre (hot air balloon take-offs
permitted only in case of emergency), some paranoid (police to disperse
groups of two or more persons in public places), some simply unbelievable
(no tourist snapshots of bobbies allowed). Limitations Permitted playfully
interrogates some of these regulations, with a serious eye on the pressures
under which they put our civil liberties.

How to participate
To assist you, our favourite bye-laws have been translated by a BSL
interpreter and exist as a video recording. You will be filmed re-signing
them (in 3D!) in front of a blue screen, interpreting extracts of the chosen
laws. Your contribution will be edited together with silent short videos
that respond to the relevant laws. The works will be viewable during the
exhibition at Peckham Square at the end of June.

Filming dates:
20 May, 6-8pm, Peckham
by appointment (before 12 June): ambientspace, Hackney E8
