Featuring three fascinating panel discussions, two artist led workshops and a captivating new performance by sound installation artist Ray Lee.<br><br>TALKS:<br><br>Art, Cybernetics and Robotics<br>Tuesday 14th October 2008, 7.30pm £7/£5 conc<br>This eminent panel will discuss the origins of cybernetics, the study of human and mechanical systems, and how these original concepts have led the way forward to create a robotic revolution.<br>Speakers will include;<br>-Owen Holland, Author of 'The Mechanical Mind in History' and researcher into machine consciousness and robotics<br>-Jasia Reichardt, Author of ‘Computer Art’ and Curator of ‘Cybernetic Serendipity’ ICA 1969.<br><br>New Collaborations: Scientific Materials and Artistic practice<br>Tuesday 28th October 2008, 7.30pm £7/£5 conc<br>This talk introduces artists who work alongside scientists and use scientific materials in their work. Balint Bolygo, Liliane Lijn and Paul Brown discuss their artistic practice and collaborative research into revolutionary new materials.<br>Speakers will also include;<br>-Zoe Laughlin, Curator of the Materials Library and<br>-Nick Leon, Director Design London, (Royal College of Art/Imperial College London).<br><br>Man & Machine: The Convergence Tuesday 11th November 2008, 7.30pm<br>£7/£5 conc<br>This visionary panel will discuss the advancing potential of the human body and explore how science fiction has lead the way forward in creating today's robotic and technologically integrated society.<br>Speakers will include;<br>-Ghislaine Boddington, Director of Body>Data>Space,<br>-Dianne Harris, Artist, Art Director and Curator Kinetica Museum and<br>-Stelarc, Performance Artist, Lecturer Performance Art, (Brunel University) and Senior Research Fellow Marcs Lab, (University of Western Sydney).<br><br>WORKSHOPS:<br><br>Artist Balint Bolygo presents New Technologies in Drawing<br>Saturday 11th October 2008, 2pm-6pm<br>£9/£7 conc<br>Through a process of invention, science and engineering, Balint Bolygo's work uses a combination of natural forces and mechanics to create drawings. In this exciting workshop, Balint will introduce these new drawing techniques using the laws of gravity and simple engineering skills. Participants will learn about the possibilities of using scientific materials and technologies in artistic practice, discovering new and explorative ways of creating art works.<br><br>Sound Performance Workshop - with Artist Ray Lee<br>Saturday 15th November 2008, 2pm-6pm<br>£9/£7 conc<br>Ray Lee will give an introduction to the use of theremins and other sound devices which represent his deep fascination with the hidden world of electromagnetic radiation. Through this hands-on workshop, participants will explore how sound can be used as evidence of the invisible forces that surround us.<br><br>PERFORMANCE EVENT:<br><br>RAY LEE 'Force Field'<br>Thurs 20th November 2008,<br>7.30pm-10.30pm<br>£12/10 conc<br>An exciting new performance installation from the internationally acclaimed sound artist Ray Lee. By interacting with the electromagnetic 'force field' that surrounds the theremin, Lee activates and controls a series of kinetic sound machines, creating music and movement from the ether.
