<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Stream
(<a href="http://www.streamarts.org.uk">www.streamarts.org.uk</a>) is a creative production agency based in the London
Borough of Greenwich, where our programmes bring together innovative art
practice and local people. We are looking for an artist to undertake a new
commission as part of the 'Voices' strand of our </span></font>Peninsula
programme (<a href="http://www.peninsulaprojects.net">www.peninsulaprojects.net</a>). </p>
<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The
‘Voices’ strand originates in our awareness of issues raised by residents and
workers in the </span></font>Greenwich Peninsula area. We would like to
commission further projects that adopt an innovative approach to the theme of
‘Voices’, using this theme to focus on these issues and give voice to the
diversity of people in the area. We are keen to continue to explore conversation
as a practice following the first Voices project Now Hear This
(<a href="http://www.streamarts.org.uk/projects/125">http://www.streamarts.org.uk/projects/125</a>) but we do not require that the
project be primarily an audio one. Other forms of communication could be
explored, in particular web tools and events that encourage participation. The
project should include a web presence that acts not only as documentation but
also as an integral part of the project. </p>
<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The artist
should have experience of collaborative practice and be able to inspire and
facilitate the flow of conversation among participants, as well as having an
understanding of the area of the </span></font>Peninsula. We are particularly
interested in artists who adopt an inquisitive approach to their practice and
who are excited by developments in digital media and emerging technology. The
artist should also have an awareness of the issues surrounding digital media
concerning access to it across communities and generations, and the ‘digital
divide’ that exists as well as the empowering potential. With this in mind, the
artist should seek to engage people in a number of ways, and have experience of
participatory events. </p>
<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The
commission has a budget of £5000 and is scheduled to take place between January
and July 2010. </span></font></p>
