Hi Atty

Just wanted to make clear that, although I will express them, my opinions
regarding the new website should not be the overriding factor on decisions,
which in the spirit of Nodel, have to be taken collectively and
democratically.

Cheers
Rachel

Subject: [nodel-discuss] NODE.London web development sessions

Hi all,

I am not really imagining taking much part in re-development of Node.l
site but I did happen to have a conversation with Rachel Baker at a
Furtherfield do where she asked me about the subject and whether I would
be involved

I replied, hmmm, maybe, a bit, to which she responded she sincerely
hoped so and it would be a bit crazy if I wasn't

so wondering why she thought this important, I asked her did she expect
all present site data to appear in new site to which she replied most
definitely. Apparently old/present site is used as a kind of reference
resource by the British Council I assume as a sort of compendium of who
is active in new media in London (and further a field) and I can see
this would therefore be of particular concern to Rachel.

so as I got a report that migrating the data was a bit undecided from
the first drafting meeting, I thought it worth mentioning it does seem
Rachel is keen that it happens. (it is possible though that not all
areas of data on the old site have equal value in her eyes?)

which would a mean a little bit of my time (a couple of hours only maybe
- this the small involvement that I imagined happening) showing Lisa
Haskel around the old data structure, quite a substantial bit of her
time (but eminently doable she thinks) writing scripts etc to do the
migration and so on.

if images attached to data objects were to be retained there might be
some implications for design of new site as scaling down might be fine
but scaling up not so fine

yours
atty
