hi all,

here is a draft for the email that will go out to the 300 or so users
who have been migrated in but who don't have accounts on the new site.
we are ready to activate the accounts now, so feedback will be great.
if i don't get any comments by thursday (after the meeting) it will be
sent as drafted here.

so far the site seems stable. we have a handful of new (legitimate)
users and so far no spam registrations or other common annoyances.

i am monitoring the log of 'pages not found' and in the next few days
intend to install and configure the redirect module so we can point
commonly used old urls to either relevant parts of the new site or the
archive.nodel.org site.

thanks everybody,

lisa

Dear <username>,

We are happy to announce that Node.London has a new website at http://nodel.org.

The main features are:

* A calendar of arts events
* A help exchange, where artists can request or volunteer help to the
rest of the community
* Links with the existing node mailing list, already the capital's
leading new media arts exchange
* All the data from node.london seasons and activities in 2008 and
2006 has been migrated. We are an instant archive of the community!
* Easier tools to document your own web presence and practice

You are getting this email because you had an account on the old website.

Please log in using the information below and set a new password. You
may then update all of your profile information. You will also be
able to edit other data that you had authored on the old site. Click
the tab on your account page 'My site content' to see if there is any
information you wish to update. As a user of the previous site you
have 'contributor' privileges so please go ahead and add new
information to the site as you wish. Any events that you create will
automatically appear in the event calendar.

Please log in by clicking on this link or copying and pasting it in
your browser:

<onetimelogin link>

This is a one-time login, so it can be used only once.

After logging in, you will be redirected to <account editing page> so
you can change your password and, if you wish, your username.

Once you have set your own password, you will be able to log in to
http://www.nodel.org/user in the future with this email address or
username.

The site is currently in 'beta' so please be patient and help us with
bug reports and ideas. We look forward to your contributions and
feedback!
