Hi all,
Eday on saturday went well, and Craig came down to help out scavenging
through the piles of gear for collectable and useable gear.
We had our own tent in the corner to collect stuff in out of the
wind. Luckily the rain held off until the end of the day!
In the course of the day there were 688 car loads of ewaste dropped
off and we snarfed a whole pile of goodies - mainly commodore gear
like vic 20s and amigas from the 80's.
Sadly let a huge wang box and a couple of terminals go on the
grounds that they took 2 people to lift - but other than that there
weren't so many sad moments - though the quantity of stuff going
through was amazing.
The charity auction is underway on trademe here:

Though it's great to keep this stuff out of land fill, a better
solution would be maybe reuse for much of it. Also it would be good if
the recycling could be done in NZ rather than abroad. Apparently there
are all sorts of tracing issues once ewaste goes overseas.
Some folks with a good model reuse model are these in Canada who do a
great job.

But as Alister said - it was just great to see so many people working
together on the day - good fun too :)
cheers
